MULTIMEDIA: Michigan-native Coast Guardsman receives Bronze Star Medal

CLEVELAND — A Coast Guardsman from Farmington, Mich., was awarded the Bronze Star Medal Monday during a ceremony at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach, Fla.

Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Burgoyne, now assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Williams Flores, was recognized for meritorious duty while deployed to Contingency Operating Bases Basrah and Umm Qasr, Iraq, as a team member of Training and Advisory Team Four, Patrol Forces Southwest Asia, from February to July, 2011.

He developed and executed the first training and advisory mission, supporting the Iraqi Coastal Border Guard.
