WATERWAYS MANAGEMENT ON THE ST CLAIR RIVER DETROIT - The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit announces the possibility of waterway delays affecting recreational vessels on the St. Clair River, 2006 in the vicinity of the following area: Latitude 42 degrees 55.26 N, Longitude 82 degrees 27.37 W. These delays may occur between the hours of 0800-1800 from October 23-27. This protective action is required due to the installation of several high voltage electrical lines in the vicinity of Marysville, MI and adjacent Canadian waters. The St. Clair River may be periodically closed to all traffic during those hours. Close coordination between U.S. and Canadian agencies will eliminate or minimize impact to commercial vessels transiting this area. Announcements regarding any closures and re-openings will be made on marine band channel 16. Commercial mariners should also contact Sarnia Vessel Traffic Control on channel 11 or 12 for further information. A safety zone will be in effect during the time periods listed above and will be enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard, Ontario Provincial Police and other law enforcement entities from the United States and Canada. Mariners are directed to stay clear of the safety zone during closures for their safety and the safety of others. ###
