USCG, OHIO, CLEVELAND RESPOND TO SPILL NEAR CUYAHOGA RIVER CLEVELAND - U.S. Coast Guard, state and local agencies are responding to a oil spill near the Cuyahoga River this evening. The spill is contained and has not affected the river. The U.S. Coast Guard receive a call at approximately 6 p.m. reporting an unknown spill at a creek, which connects to the Cuyahoga River, known as Kingsbury Run. U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Cleveland, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and Cleveland Sewer District responded, along with private contractors to contain and clean the spill. The spill, which is estimated to be 500 gallons of motor oil, is contained in the creek with 150 feet of containment boom.
