UPDATE: Coast Guard assisting vessel beset in ice

DULUTH, Minn. -- The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alder broke the ice around the Motor Vessel Lee A. Tregurtha, at approximately 5:30 p.m., and freed the vessel after it had become beset in ice earlier Wednesday. 

The Tregurtha is able to traverse its intended track along the shipping channel.
