Coast Guard medically evacuates woman with abdominal pains

MACKINAW ISLAND, Mich. - U.S. Coast Guard Station St. Ignace medically evacuated a 44-year-old female with abdominal pains from the harbor on Macinaw Island Sunday at approximately 12:30 a.m.

A 47-foot motor lifeboat (MLB) crew transported her safely to awaiting Emergency Medical Services at the station.

"She was stable and talking; they had her in a gurney ready to go," said Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Katharine Quick, 47-footer coxswain.

EMS delivered her to Petoskey Hospital.

The Coast Guard in St. Ignace effects safe and expeditious transport of those in need of medical attention due to its training and proximity to Mackinaw Island.
