Ice Breaking through Lower Green Bay UPDATE GREEN BAY, Wisc. - The Coast Guard will begin clearing an ice track in the shipping lane on lower Green Bay and the mouth of the Fox River on January 20, 2005. Ice breaking operations had been put on hold since the previously scheduled date of January 16 due to delays in the arivall of a ship delivering coal to Green Bay, Wisc. Persons are reminded that ice-breaking operations make ice recreation especially hazardous. All shanties should be removed from areas in the vicinity of the shipping channel prior to this date and all fisherman, snowmobilers, and other interested parties should stay well clear of the shipping channel while ice breaking is taking place. ### Editors note: Media inquiries may be directed to the Coast Guard Group Milwaukee Duty Officer at (414) 747-7182.
