COAST GUARD TO SPONSOR INTERNATIONAL TABLETOP EXERCISE WINDSOR, Ontario - The U.S. Coast Guard-sponsored Southeast Michigan Area Maritime Security Committee (SMAMSC) will host an international tabletop exercise Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Windsor Armoury and Police Joint Training Facility in Windsor, Ontario. The exercise is coordinated by the Emergency Management Subcommittee of the SMAMSC, and involves around 200 participants from the local, regional, and national levels of emergency management agencies from both Canada and the United States. The exercise will simulate response to mass casualties, limited access rescue areas, shipboard firefighting, marine pollution, hazardous materials, and potential terrorism, while taking into consideration international border concerns. Media briefings will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will include photo and interview opportunities.
