BOAT RAMP AND RIVER CLOSINGS SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. – Coast Guard Group Sault Ste. Marie will be working in conjunction with the Michigan National Guard to construct a temporary bridge that will span the St. Marys River Between Sugar Island, MI and Garden River, Ontario from approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on May 10, 2005.
The temporary bridge will result in the closure of the boat ramps located on North Eastshore Drive, Sugar Island, MI and the Aune Osborne and Mission St. boat landings, both on Portage Avenue, SSM, MI,. Operation Bridge Out is a multi-agency, bi-national exercise scheduled for 09-11 May. Even though it is a three-day evolution, the boat landings will only be closed 10 May 2005, as authorized by City of Sault Ste. Marie and Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Additionally, the U.S. waters of the North Channel, above Lake George and below Mission Pt., will be closed to boating traffic, 10 May 2005.
