Coast Guard responds to swimmer injured after reportedly jumping off lighthouse

CLEVELAND – The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to a report of a missing swimmer who jumped off the Conneaut Lighthouse in Conneaut Harbor, Ohio, and never surfaced at about 8 p.m., July 27, 2010.

Coast Guard rescue crews from Station Ashtabula launched immediately to search for the man.

Responders located the swimmer unresponsive and immediately began CPR. His condition is unknown at this time.

It was reported the man had not been wearing a life jacket.

The Conneaut police and fire departments are aiding in the response.
