CREWMEMBER TRAINING
Station Cleveland Harbor trains junior members

 Tending the Bow line 2

Coast Guard Station Cleveland Harbor conducted a two week Boat crew Training School from Nov. 7 to Nov. 21.  The school was taught by the station's coxswains and was targeted for the eight new members who reported to the station during the past four weeks.  With all of the trainees having little or no experience on Coast Guard small boats, the station believed that the two week in depth school would give them the necessary information and skills to quickly finish their boatcrewman qualifications. After an intense two weeks of boat handling skills, first aid and CPR, navigation drills and seamanship drills, all eight are expected to become fully qualified crewmembers at the station by Dec 2.  Photos courteous of Sta. With instructor BM1 Lee Feller looking over his shoulder, SN Arthur Snyder (top right) stands aboard the 41-foot life boat and tends the bow line as the station’s 25-foot boat is brought into an alongside tow.  With the 25 in sight, Snyder tends the line from the starboard side of the 41.
